Dive-Clean Up at D'alboras Marinas 1st May 2021
Cleaning below water (diving/snorkelling) and above water in the rocks of the break wall where loads of rubbish and fishing gear gets stashed.
EVENT INFO -An awesome opportunity to make a real difference for the ocean. Regardless if you can dive or not, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
If you love the ocean and want to help clean it up come join us on the 1st of May as we spend the day removing plastic pollution from the Nelson Bay Break Wall. Aimed at adults and children (under adult supervision) alike come join us while we make real change for our local marine life.
For those divers there will be two dives on the day IMPORTANT- please register so we know who to expect on the day. 2 Dive times- 11.30am (outer wall) & 1.30pm (inside Marina)
For those on land helpers feel free to join us for any amount of time between 11am and 3pm
LOCATION- Turn left at the Marina (by vehicle), drive all the way to the end of the road. Turn right out of the U-turn Bay at the Co-op into the carpark and drive right to the other end of the carpark. There you will find our tent & home base.
PREPARATION DIVERS- Must have their Open Water Dive Certificate and bring it on the day to be able to dive. Please supply your own diving gear and bring it along on the day, if you don' have any Let's Go Adventures has generously offered a discount for those helping clean up and they can be found right next door in the Marina. Please also bring a dive knife or scissors work great if you have some.
ON LAND HELPERS- Please bring sturdy shoes as the large rocks are sharp, a hat and suncream or wet weather gear, depending on the weather. We will supply clean up bags, vests and gloves.
ACCESS- Be aware when cleaning on the land the rocks are large and hard to reach between- Rubbish grabs are an awesome tool if you have any please bring them along.
