Rewind Series 5 Episode 16 – Festivals in Scone Mayfield Swansea

It was 1966, and as spring bloomed across our region, so did the community spirit… FESTIVAL SEASON was in full swing, and NBN News was there to capture the fun!

In Scone, the annual Floral Festival turned the main street into a vibrant scene of activity. The local fire brigade led with a rousing marching band, setting the rhythm for the Cultural Club. Local service groups created magnificent floats, showcasing the festival princess entrants

The spirit of celebration continued in Mayfield. Neighbours and local businesses stepped out… creating a true show of local pride and community connection

And the Swansea Festival brought family and friends together with a mix of colour and competition. The parade, complete with lively marching girls, gave way to a truly unique spectacle… The hotly-contested Anchor Throwing competition, followed by the crowning of the festival Queen
